FAQ IN ENGLISH
ABOUT US
We fly hot air balloons that can fit around five people at a time. There are many benefits to flying in a smaller basket, for example getting to know the other passengers as well as hearing the pilot’s stories from a more personal point of view. The service is also better when there are not too many people to attend to at a time. Participating in building and packing the balloon before and after the flight is also possible if desired.
HISTORY
The hot air balloon is the oldest successful human-carrying flight technology. The French Montgolfier brothers are thought to be the inventors of the hot air balloon and they performed the first successful air balloon flight in 1783 near Paris. The first passengers to board a flying aircraft were animals, but soon after that humans gathered the courage to fly and have done it ever since. Drinking champagne during a hot air balloon flight is also an old tradition that has stuck throughout the years.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS FOR THE FLIGHT?
We suggest you wear something that you find comfortable and that is easy to move in. The landing area isn’t known beforehand and it might be damp or a tallgrass plain, so we suggest you wear a pair of long pants and shoes that don’t mind dirt. We recommend you also bring a hat of some kind to protect your head from the heat of the burner.
DOES IT GET COLD IN THE BALLOON?
It doesn’t get cold in the balloon, because the balloon moves alongside the wind, which means that you can’t feel the wind.
IS IT SAFE TO FLY IN A HOT AIR BALLOON?
Flying in a hot air balloon is just as safe as traveling in an airplane. We fly only in good weather conditions and the speed is very minimal. There are no complicated electronics that could go wrong during the flight.
WHAT KIND OF WEATHER IS APPROPRIATE FOR FLYING?
Hot air balloon-flying is very dependent on good weather. The weather is always checked a few days beforehand and if weather reports suggest gusty wind or heavy rain, the flight is scheduled to the nearest possible date. During the summertime, we fly only in the morning or later in the evening, because during the day the wind is too unpredictable.
HOW FAST CAN A HOT AIR BALLOON GO?
The balloon’s flight speed is the same as the wind’s speed. If the wind is too gusty on ground, the flight must be postponed.
HOW DO YOU CONTROL THE BALLOON?
The balloon moves in the same direction as the wind. It is the pilot’s job to decide in which altitude the wind blows in the best direction. The winds closer to the ground usually blow in a different direction than the ones higher up. The pilot controls the altitude of the balloon with the burner. To go higher, the pilot simply heats the air inside of the balloon, and once the pilot lets the air inside the balloon cool down, the balloon starts descending downwards.
